Robbie Shakespeare RIP : reggae riddim twin dies

Robbie Shakespeare, one half of the powerhouse rhythm duo of Sly and Robbie, has died. Shakespeare had reportedly been ailing for some time and had undergone surgery related to his kidneys. A key architect in reggae bass lines dominate the form and beyond with his work being the spine of so many classics from U-Roy, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott, Augustus Pablo, Yellowman and Black Uhuru. His production work also extended beyond the reggae genre, covering various pop and rock artists such as Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Yoko Ono, Serge Gainsbourg and Grace Jones.

Rebelution Announces Summer Tour 2022

The reggae outfit’s Good Vibes Tour gets underway on June 1 in Florida. Rebelution announced 2022 summer tour dates around their 2021 album In The Moment. The Southern Californa reggae outfit will kick off their Good Vibes Tour with support from Steel Pulse, DENM and DJ Mackle on June 1 in Flordia. A two-night stand in St. Augustine serves as the tour opener ahead of additional Flordia stops in Boca Raton and Key West. Rebelution will then hit Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta ahead of a swing through North Carolina. June 15 sees Rebelution and company kicking off a Northeast stint in New Haven, Connecticut including engagements in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Baltimore among others.
